HubSpot Developer Changelog

App Marketplace Recategorization

Written by Hannah Seligson | Nov 13, 2024 1:58:47 PM

Starting on November 13th, we are introducing changes to the structure and categorization of the HubSpot App Marketplace. This update reflects HubSpot's evolution from a hub-centric platform to a comprehensive CRM solution. The goal is to align the app marketplace categories with industry standards and improve app discoverability by focusing on customer use cases.

These changes will simplify navigation, remove outdated structures, and allow app developers to present their solutions under multiple relevant categories.

What's changing?

Marketplace Structure Updates

  • Existing categories will be replaced with new, use case-based categories.
  • Super categories will be removed to streamline browsing and simplify the category hierarchy.
  • The "Features" field in the app listing’s "Details" section will no longer be displayed.

App Partner/Dashboard Changes

  • Apps will be automatically mapped to a relevant new category.
  • App partners can change their app’s category by selecting the "Edit Listing" option in the partner dashboard. When they edit their listing, they may need to complete the listing requirements before submitting their app for review. This includes new requirements, such as the recently added advanced scope settings.
  • App partners can now select up to two categories for their app. Previously, only one category was allowed.

Use Case and Discovery Improvements

  • Categories will shift from being hub-specific (e.g., Marketing, Sales) to being aligned with industry-standard use cases, improving customer relevance.
  • This re-categorization reflects how HubSpot has expanded into a full CRM platform, moving beyond its initial Marketing and Sales Hub origins.

This change represents our commitment to providing a modernized, use case-driven marketplace that reflects both HubSpot's evolution and industry trends.

When is this happening?

This will be released on November 13th and gradually rolled out to users. If you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch with your App Partner Manager for more information. Otherwise, please join us on our community forum for a peer-to-peer discussion.
