Spring Spotlight 2025: Improvements to HubSpot's CMS

HubSpot’s CMS is the backbone of many customer websites. With its direct connection to HubSpot’s Smart CRM and Content Hub features, it’s easy and fast for content editors and builders to collaborate on powerful web experiences. And since INBOUND 2024, we’ve continued to add new features and improvements.

A New Unified Theme

Themes are the foundation of a HubSpot CMS website, which is why we introduced the new Elevate theme. This default theme includes several customizable templates and modules for businesses of any size. It also comes with new theme settings for fast configuration and streamlined navigation.

Customize the Elevate theme for your customers by directly accessing the theme code through HubSpot’s CLI, creating a child theme, and updating the files as needed. Use the Elevate theme as a starting point for your websites.

Updates to CMS React

We’ve also made several improvements to our CMS React projects. Use React to build templates and modules for your CMS themes. This is an alternative to using the HubL templating language and offers development flexibility in CMS projects.

The CMS React local development server is completely redesigned to help you streamline your development workflows. Major updates include:

  • A dedicated, user-friendly UI for the local development server.
  • The ability to preview your local modules in the HubSpot design previewer.
  • A list of all the pages that utilize your CMS React modules.
  • Quick links to open your CMS React projects and pages directly in your HubSpot account.
  • Shortcuts for easy copying and pasting.
  • Direct links to developer documentation.

Small Updates That Make A Big Difference

Finally, we’ve also made some quality-of-life updates that will help you and your team work smarter with the CMS:

  • New HubSpot forms are now embeddable on CMS pages. Create polished, branded pages for users to visit when filling forms out.
  • Domain Connect now allows users to log into their DNS provider from inside HubSpot and connect their existing domain with a couple of clicks. Connect to 40+ providers quickly. This is also available for email sending providers.
  • Drag and drop areas can now be added to custom coded email templates. These areas give content creators the flexibility to make simple changes without having to ask for a new custom coded template.

We’re continuously improving, so help shape the future of the CMS and all of our products by giving us your product feedback often. More to come later this year, so stay tuned through these HubSpot Developer resources:

We can’t wait to see what you all build!
