Before integrating with UI extensions, Sendoso's integration required users to navigate between the two platforms, creating a somewhat disjointed experience. For instance, setting up a campaign in Sendoso involved multiple steps: users needed to log into Sendoso, create the campaign, assign budgets, and then return to HubSpot to finalize the workflow. This process, while effective, was cumbersome and often led to drop-offs in user engagement.
Cody Farmer, Head of Product at Sendoso saidin the former process, users would have to "leave HubSpot, go into Sendoso, build the [gift], go back into HubSpot, and then apply the [gift] that you built."
Moreover, the reliance on the Sendoso Chrome extension added another layer of complexity. Users needed to ensure they were using the correct browser and had the extension properly installed. These steps, while manageable, presented barriers to seamless operation, particularly for users who were not deeply familiar with both platforms.
The Solution: App Cards in Contact Records
The introduction of app cards built with UI extensions provided Sendoso with an opportunity to streamline their processes significantly. With the new system, Sendoso was able to delivery nearly their entire app experience directly into HubSpot. This integration allows users to manage gifting directly from within HubSpot, without the need to switch between platforms, or even navigate away from the contact record.
Users can now go to a contact within HubSpot, see gift suggestions based on relevant data, and send a personalized gift with just a few clicks. The process of setting up campaigns and assigning budgets still exists but has been streamlined, making it easier for users to get started quickly.
The Impact: Enhanced User Experience and Efficiency
Not only has it reduced the steps required to send a gift, but it has also made the entire process more intuitive. Users can now see gift history directly within HubSpot, preventing them from accidentally sending the same gift twice. The ability to stay within HubSpot for the entire process has also led to higher engagement, as users no longer need to switch contexts to complete their tasks.
"We've basically been able to import almost our entire app experience into HubSpot," Farmer said. "It allows a certain subset of users of Sendoso to basically never leave HubSpot to use Sendoso."
Sendoso’s engineering team was particularly impressed with the speed of development. Within 48 hours of starting the project, they had an end-to-end functioning demo, highlighting the efficiency of the new system. This was in-part due to UI extension development being driven by the popular programming language React. Farmer said the team was "super impressed with how [quickly] they were able to develop. They could make a change, roll it out, and it was immediately visible in the UI extension."
The team also found the UI extensions design to be straightforward, with no need for additional design resources, which further accelerated the development process.
New Possibilities: Leveraging Data for Personalized Experiences
One of the most exciting aspects of this integration is the potential for future enhancements. By living on the HubSpot contact page, the Sendoso app card can now leverage both HubSpot's data and their own to offer more personalized gift suggestions and messaging. This opens the door to even more personalized and effective corporate gifting strategies.
The seamless integration also means that Sendoso’s tools are now accessible to a broader range of HubSpot users. Previously, only those with access to HubSpot’s workflows could fully utilize Sendoso’s capabilities. Now, the integration is available across different tiers of HubSpot’s service, making it a more inclusive solution.
