Where AI Fits in HubSpot

AI in HubSpot helps customers automate repetitive work, surface insights, and create content in context. For developers, that means you can embed the same intelligence into your apps—extending agents with tasks, integrations, and workflows that feel native to HubSpot.

HubSpot's AI Agent & Developer Tooling Ecosystem

Agent Tools

Agent tools are custom workflow actions that agents use to perform specific tasks. Each agent is made up of tools, which can fetch data, generate content, or take action in HubSpot or external systems. Because tools are defined once and can be reused across multiple agents, you get a flexible way to extend agent capabilities with the exact workflows your app requires.

Examples of what you can build:

  • Deal forecast with projected revenue
  • Meeting summary with action items
  • Create a CRM task with priority and due date
  • Send Slack notification for ticket escalations
  • Generate and email an invoice PDF

Agent tools are a bridge between AI and your systems. You decide what they can do—whether that’s pulling data, creating records, or generating content—and the agent uses the context to get the job done.

Model Context Protocol (MCP)

MCP servers and AI-powered clients act as bridges between HubSpot and the wider ecosystem, making it easy to build integrations and workflows and bring your HubSpot context wherever you work.

What’s available:

  • (Beta) Developer MCP Server — Installed via the HubSpot CLI, it lets you build, test, and deploy integrations more intelligently while enabling compatibility with AI-powered clients through natural language prompts.
  • MCP Client for Agent Studio — connect Agents to external systems using natural language, making it easier to automate workflows and streamline tasks across tools powered by your HubSpot context.
  • (Beta) HubSpot MCP Server (Remote) — unlocks the ability to bring HubSpot context into the tools and environments where you work. With the hosted endpoint (mcp.hubspot.com), you can connect any compatible MCP client to create custom workflows and integrations with read-only access to CRM objects.

Although not directly related to building on the HubSpot Developer Platform, there are additional tools that showcase how AI assistants can integrate across tools, including the AI assistant in the conversations inbox and the HubSpot connector for ChatGPT.
